Two scribes of proven talent and solid credentials <em>vis \u00e1 vis<\/em> Robert E. Howard have something to crow about.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/jamesreasoner.blogspot.com\/2009\/11\/pw-likes-hunt-at-well-of-eternity-again.html\">James Reasoner<\/a>, a former REHupan and author of\u00a0a wagon-load of\u00a0novels, just made the cut in the Publishers Weekly&#8217;s &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.publishersweekly.com\/article\/CA6704595.html\">Top 100 Books of 2009<\/a>.&#8221; Out of <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-7021\" title=\"jimreasoner\" src=\"http:\/\/leogrin.com\/CimmerianBlog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/jimreasoner-150x146.jpg\" alt=\"jimreasoner\" width=\"150\" height=\"146\" \/>fifty-thousand purported contestants, Reasoner walked away in the top one hundred. The novel in question is <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Hunt-at-Well-Eternity-Gabriel\/dp\/0843962461\">Hunt at the Well of Eternity<\/a><\/em>. Publishers Weekly said, &#8220;Reasoner launches the <a href=\"http:\/\/somebodydies.blogspot.com\/2009\/10\/hunt-through-cradle-of-fear-by-gabriel.html\">Gabriel Hunt<\/a> series with a fast-paced tale of purely entertaining Indiana Jones\u2013like adventure, smartly updated for modern sensibilities.&#8221; Right on. Recognition\u00a0at this level\u00a0has been a long time coming for\u00a0Mr. Reasoner. Hopefully, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hardcasecrime.com\/\">Hard Case Crime<\/a> gives James another shot at Gabriel Hunt.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bg-editor.livejournal.com\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-7022\" title=\"haj\" src=\"http:\/\/leogrin.com\/CimmerianBlog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/haj-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"haj\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>Howard Andrew Jones<\/a> was never in REHupa, but he&#8217;s still a card-carrying Friend of <em>The Cimmerian<\/em>. Jones, as editor of <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.blackgate.com\/\">Black Gate<\/a><\/em> and godfather of the <a href=\"http:\/\/leogrin.com\/CimmerianBlog\/?cat=63\">Bison Books Harold Lamb series<\/a>, has name-checked the Man From Cross Plains wherever and whenever\u00a0appropriate. Howard just announced\u00a0this late Monday\u00a0night:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Now that I have a copy of the contract, I no longer feel like I&#8217;m jinxing anything by revealing that I have a two book hardback deal with Thomas Dunne, a St. Martin&#8217;s division, for my Dabir and Asim historical\/fantasy\/sword &amp; sorcery novel(s). It&#8217;s a good feeling.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>A good feeling, indeed, for fans of heroic fantasy.\u00a0Thus far, Jones&#8217; tales of Dabir and Asim have been excellent examples of historical Sword-and-Sorcery. The fact that Thomas Dunne Books has given\u00a0Jones a contract also bodes well.
