Howard and his fiction. He also reveals that actor Thomas Jane worked with him to provide photo references for many of the pieces. While Bradstreet doesn&#8217;t specifically say so, I&#8217;ve heard through the grapevine that Jane is an REH fan as well. In my opinion, if an El Borak or Kirby O&#8217;Donnell movie was to be made, the producers could do far worse than cast Jane as the lead.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/leogrin.com\/CimmerianBlog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/bradstreet-castle1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10639  aligncenter\" title=\"bradstreet-castle\" src=\"http:\/\/leogrin.com\/CimmerianBlog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/bradstreet-castle1.jpg\" alt=\"\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"http:\/\/leogrin.com\/CimmerianBlog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/bradstreet-castle1.jpg 558w, http:\/\/leogrin.com\/CimmerianBlog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/bradstreet-castle1-98x150.jpg 98w, http:\/\/leogrin.com\/CimmerianBlog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/bradstreet-castle1-196x300.jpg 196w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 558px) 100vw, 558px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/leogrin.com\/CimmerianBlog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/01\/bradstreet-castle.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Jane has worked with Bradstreet\u00a0previously on the many <em>Punisher<\/em> projects that the artist has\u00a0illustrated (see the illo\u00a0above). I&#8217;ve never been a huge fan of artists working largely from photo reference. The practice seems to induce too much staticity and renders them lifeless (don&#8217;t get me started\u00a0on Vallejo&#8217;s post-&#8217;70s work). That said, Bradstreet\u00a0is one of those rare birds (like sports artist, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tedwatts.org\/\">Ted Watts<\/a>, whom I&#8217;ve known for almost four decades) who can instill vigor and movement into his\u00a0art despite\u00a0using photographic references.
